Block Blast Stays on Top With Massive Lead
Block Blast was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide in May 2025. It continued its streak as the top global game for the sixth month in a row. The game reached nearly 34 million downloads in May, beating Roblox by almost 14 million installs.
Appmagic’s data shows that Block Blast has dominated the charts since Pokémon TCG Pocket launched in November 2024. Since then, no other title has come close to matching Block Blast’s consistent popularity.
Roblox remained steady with around 20 million monthly downloads, keeping its second-place spot. Subway Surfers followed closely with about 15 million downloads. The endless runner has held this level for six straight months, showing strong long-term appeal.
Ludo King bounced back after a dip earlier this year. It fell under 10 million downloads in late 2024 but returned to its usual 14 million in May.

Meme Merge Surges, Mobile Legends Breaks Records
May brought a surprising new entry with Bravestar’s Meme Merge: Drop Puzzle. The game had a soft launch in December 2023 but remained under the radar until mid-May 2025. It spiked from just 1,000 downloads in April to around 1 million per day by mid-May. If it had launched earlier in the month, it could have ranked even higher.
Supercent’s Pizza Ready had another consistent month with around 13 million installs. In contrast, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang hit a record with 12.3 million downloads. Moonton’s MOBA title has been gaining ground since December 2024. Despite being caught up in U.S. app store issues due to the TikTok ban in January, its momentum kept building.
Garena’s Free Fire and Free Fire Max both performed strongly. Each version reached nearly 12 million downloads in May. Free Fire Max had previously lagged behind the main version but now matches its performance.
Voodoo’s Hole.io also stayed solid in the charts. The hypercasual title first launched in 2018 and saw steady growth after a reboot in summer 2024. Both downloads and in-app purchase revenue have been rising since then.
New Titles Gain Traction in the Top 20
The second half of the top 20 list featured more notable changes. TapMen’s Merge Fellas ranked 11th with 10.8 million downloads. Over 40% of these came from Indonesia, where the game gained viral traction.
TSACom’s Brainzot Tip Tap Challenge took the 12th spot with 10.6 million installs. Like Merge Fellas, it saw a big boost from TikTok-style viral content. Around 30% of Brainzot’s installs also came from Indonesia.
QY Studio’s No WiFi – Antistress Relax Toys tied with Brainzot at 10.6 million downloads, while My Talking Tom 2 from Outfit7 followed with 10.4 million.
Dream Games’ Royal Kingdom climbed 96 spots month-on-month to reach 10.3 million installs. A major ad campaign featuring celebrities began in mid-April and appears to have driven the surge. The game had hovered around 2 million downloads monthly since its November 2024 launch. In April, it rose to 4.5 million, and in May, it more than doubled again.
Cookingdom, another title from ABI Games Studio, also reached 10.3 million downloads.
Voodoo’s Paper.io 2 returned to form with 9.9 million downloads in May, climbing 25 spots from the previous month.
EA Sports FC Mobile earned 9.8 million installs, keeping its spot in the top 20 after steady performance throughout the year.
AxesInMotion’s Extreme Car Driving Simulator grabbed 9.6 million downloads, tying with Garena’s new title Delta Force, which is in its second month on the market.
Big Names Fall Out of the Rankings
Several longtime leaders fell out of the top 20 in May. Candy Crush Saga did not make the cut for the first time in years. 8 Ball Pool and PUBG Mobile also dropped out of the rankings.
These games have stayed near the top for years, but new titles are now taking their place. Shifting user trends, regional marketing pushes, and viral social media campaigns are changing which games succeed.
