Display, Design, and Build

Huawei released the Watch 5 in two sizes: 46mm and 42mm. The 46mm model comes in five color options—Purple, Silver, Brown, Blue, and Black. The 42mm version offers five different shades—Beige, Sand Gold, White, Green, and Black.

Both versions use a sapphire dial glass and titanium case. The case includes a 904L stainless steel frame with a polished finish. Huawei added embossed Kármán line curves to improve the look and feel of the watch. The build makes the watch light but strong, while the sapphire glass protects the display.

The Huawei Watch 5 features two AMOLED screens. The 46mm model has a 1.5-inch LTPO 2.0 display, while the 42mm model has a 1.38-inch screen. Both displays offer 466 x 466 pixel resolution and reach 3000 nits peak brightness. Huawei also reduced bezels to 1.8mm for a more modern look.

The Watch 5 includes a rotating crown and a new function button. It supports wireless charging and is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

Huawei Watch 5 Introduces X-Tap Finger Touch Sensor

Huawei added a new health feature called the Multi-Sensing X-Tap sensor. This small oval module includes an ECG sensor, a PPG sensor, and a 10-level tactile sensor. Together, these parts allow fast and accurate health tracking from a single touch.

A key feature of the X-Tap sensor is real-time fingertip blood oxygen monitoring. Users can simply tap the sensor to get a precise SpO2 reading within 10 seconds. The strong signal system allows better health tracking from anywhere.

The X-Tap sensor also enables a full Health Glance check. By pressing and holding the sensor, users receive a complete report in under 60 seconds. The report includes 11 health indicators and a personalized health analysis.

Huawei Watch 5 also uses the X-Tap sensor for:

  • Quick ECG readings
  • Instant SpO2 checks
  • Health alerts
  • Watch face previews
  • Quick access to new animations

The sensor gives users full control over health features with simple gestures.

Smart Gestures Powered by NPU

Huawei Watch 5 supports smart gestures that allow hands-free control. A built-in NPU powers these gesture functions for fast performance.

The watch allows two main gestures:

  • Double-Tap: Tap the thumb and index finger together twice to confirm an action.
  • Double-Slide: Slide the thumb twice along the index finger to switch options.

These gestures can control music, silence alarms, answer calls, or use the camera shutter remotely. The watch gives users simple ways to manage tasks with finger movement alone.

eSIM Support and Wireless Connections

Huawei Watch 5 supports eSIM connectivity. Users can make and receive phone calls directly from the watch. There is no need to carry a smartphone.

The watch connects over Wi-Fi 6 and supports Bluetooth 5.2. It also includes NFC for contactless payments. These features turn the Watch 5 into a standalone device for communication and mobile payments.

Huawei Watch 5 Battery Life and Charging Modes

Huawei added two battery modes to the Watch 5: Standard Mode and Battery Saver Mode.

In Standard Mode:

  • The 46mm watch offers up to 4.5 days of battery life with AOD (Always-On Display) turned on.
  • The 42mm version lasts up to 3 days with AOD enabled.

In Battery Saver Mode:

  • The 46mm model provides up to 11 days of usage.
  • The 42mm model offers up to 7 days.

Both versions support wireless charging. Huawei designed the battery system to last through busy schedules without frequent recharging.

Free Huawei Health+ Membership

New Huawei Watch 5 owners receive a free three-month trial of Huawei Health+. The premium app includes advanced workout programs, personalized training plans, and exclusive health tracking tools.

This offer adds value to the Watch 5, giving users access to detailed fitness courses and custom coaching content.

Final Thoughts: Huawei Watch 5 Brings Advanced Health Features in Style

Huawei has delivered a powerful smartwatch in the Watch 5. The device combines advanced health sensors, a premium build, and smart connectivity options.

The X-Tap finger touch sensor allows instant access to ECG, SpO2, and full health scans. The AMOLED display, strong titanium case, and smart gesture control make it more than just a fitness watch. With eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6, and long battery life, Huawei Watch 5 turns into a full mobile companion on your wrist.
